Open jaller94 opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have a slow / spotty network connection.
  2. Reload Element Web.

Outcome

What did you expect?

The client tries to reload chunks or says that loading the bundle failed. I expect the client to tell me to check my connection and to manually reload.

What happened instead?

  • The client says that loading the session failed.
  • It says me to log out.

I guess we could improve the error handling here.

Marking this S-Critical since it incorrectly tells you to throw away your session, which could lead to data loss

Coming from https://github.com/element-hq/element-web/issues/27622 this doesn't have to be spotty network. This sometimes happens also with good/stable network. I assume it might be in the right moment when develop is being redeployed, maybe. Though I have no evidence of this actually being a true assumption.

Yeah if it happens more often on develop that is not something we'd consider fixing. Develop is known to be unstable and for development.
