The avatar menu button should handle alpha channels

Steps to reproduce

When using the new app layout sign in with an account who's avatar is a PNG with some transparency in it.

Outcome

What did you expect?

For the avatar to be easily visible.

What happened instead?

The avatar is overlaid on top of the person symbol making it hard to see.
