Message Editing: Update notifications
We should update notifications with updated messages but there are several use cases which can be related:
- the edited message is still displayed in a notification
- the notification for the edited message is no more displayed
- the edit does not trigger a notification anymore
- the edit triggers a notif while the original message did not
The current default behavior which displays the fallback edited content is not that bad. It notifies the user if needed. If the user tapped on the original message, the app will display the edited content in the timeline.

I get bad feedback about this behavior from users. It floods them with notifications.
Is there a way for the user to disable multiple notifications when a particular message is edited?
I came to Element a couple years ago from Wire and always felt like Wire had the best setup for this. If you edit a message the old notification is either removed and replaced or just updated. You no longer see the original message (not sure how this was accomplished.)
When the conversation is opened you also no longer directly see the edited message so the duplicate notification confuses some users.
It would be fantastic to have this on iOS. I appreciate the way Element Android handles edits, but I would like to suggest one change: No vibration/sound when message is edited (possibly a toggle in settings?). This would significantly cut down on the amount of notifications and would prevent me from having to offer an apology similar to, "sorry for all the edits" :)
