Open Element Desktop on Notification Click

Open MarcelCoding opened this issue 3 years ago • 13 comments

Your use case

What would you like to do?

If I click on the system notification from element desktop, the notification just disappears but element desktop is not being opened.

How would you like to achieve it?

I don't know the technical details.

Have you considered any alternatives?

On what OS is this on? What version of Element are you using? Is this in the desktop version of Element or in browser

I also noticed this, happens to me and other colleges at work a lot, I don't use the desktop app mainly because of this.

I just updated to element 1.9.9 and it worked. @chagai95 is it also fixed for you? If yes, I am going to close this issue.

Now the issue happen again, the only difference that I can think of is, that my laptop was in sleep between the time element was started and I received the notification/clicked the notification. I am going to test this.

My assumption is kind of correct. It works if you click the notification when it is in the bottom right corner. But if you wait till it disappears and then click on it in the notification list it does not work.

This sounds like a bug in your notifications manager or electron, we don't unbind the handler at any point.

More like electron with this specific configuration, because I did not noticed any issues on discord. But I am going to check discord as well.

I observed the exact same behavior on windows. Is there anybody who is using windows who actually had this working?

I have never built an electron app, but maybe it's related to this? https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/18746

Or can be fixed with this: https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/2867#issuecomment-1011057831

What version of electron is used?

Confirmed issue on Windows.

I can confirm that the issue is still present and would encourage everyone who has the same problem to add a 👍 reaction to this issue for increased visibility. The behavior when clicking a notification on Windows deviates significantly from expectations.
