Steps to reproduce

  1. Where are you starting? What can you see? This has to do with search. I have several entries today with djackie581 and it is not bringing up any of them. If I use the phone number it brings up one entries from a previous day.
  2. What do you click? Entered info into the search bar and as you can see it says 2 results found but it does not show the results even after select search all rooms.

Outcome

What did you expect? The find what I am looking for whether it was the most recent or the previous messages

What happened instead? No results from the most recent entries and sometimes nothing shows up.

For me the search is broken with the latest release - I skipped some version and have no idea what I have used before (using the web version normally). Really annoying 🤯 Also it's required to search nearly for the whole word.

Given in the chat: "Gemüsebrühe" - to find that I have to search for at least "Gemüsebrüh"...

People don't like that. They get angry when such simple things don't work - and I totally feel with them.

The search happens on message text so if djackie581 is a user then it is expected that there is no match.

Search also does not work for me, and has been broken for multiple releases. It's extremely hit 'n miss, highly on the miss side (I haven't been able to figure out the conditions under which it works sometimes, to the point it sometimes seems more of a fluke).

I've tried wiping completely to ensure no config issues.

v1.12.6, flatpak.

My Message Search setting states it's storing messages for only 9 rooms, but I have well more than 9 rooms. How does that work? Meanwhile, it also states 11k indexed messages across 27 indexed rooms.

@jackedproxy the flatpak package isn't maintained by us and has a number of known issues specific to itself: https://github.com/flathub/im.riot.Riot
