Element desktop doesn't support .heic images, mobile does, resulting in not-displaying images

Your use case

What would you like to do?

Receiving a .heic message should result in the image being displayed (works on mobile Element iOS)

Why would you like to do it?

so it's consistent across platforms

How would you like to achieve it?

implement/add .heic support in the desktop app

Have you considered any alternatives?

This is an upstream issue in Chrome/Electron - https://caniuse.com/heif

then this should be considered an issue I guess on the mobile app that the image is not converted? As a mobile user, I should know and be certain that me posting an image could be seen by the recipient, no matter which client is used. Are there no mechanisms to make sure of that?

I'd suggest you open an issue with the mobile app you're using then, Element Android compresses & converts by default but gives you an option to send it "raw".

Any idea on how could be solved by a developer? Where do I start if I want to add support for another image format on Chrome 😂
