You have to restart the app to pick up the hw PTT button (if it wasn't turned on at the beginning of the call)

Steps to reproduce

1. Launch EC in PTT mode as a widget in EA
2. Press the PTT hw button a few times
3. Feel sad that nothing happens
4. Realise that the PTT button was in 'deep sleep' mode (i.e. turned off) at first, and that to get it to be usable you'll have to reload the widget
5. Faff around reloading the widget (tricky thanks to PIP mode)

Outcome

What did you expect?

If the button is paired but the app can't find it, the app could keep polling in case it gets turned on. Alternatively, a "reconnect" button could be presented to the user.

What happened instead?

The button didn't work until the app was restarted.
