Element X Call UX enhancement: microphone on by default, ringing tone, and unanswered call timeout
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. When I start a call, the application automatically enables mute by default. This makes the experience less intuitive, as I always need to manually unmute myself. Additionally, when waiting for the other person to answer, there is no ringing sound, which makes it unclear if the call is actually being placed. Finally, if the person does not answer, the call stays active indefinitely instead of cancelling itself.
Describe the solution you’d like • Calls should start with the microphone enabled by default (not muted). • While waiting for the other person to answer, the application should play a ringing sound to indicate that the call is in progress. • If the other person does not answer within a set time (e.g., 30 seconds), the call should automatically cancel.
Describe alternatives you’ve considered • Keeping the current behavior (start muted, no ringing, no timeout), but this reduces usability. • Adding manual options in the settings to toggle these behaviors individually, but I believe having these as default would greatly improve the calling experience.
Additional context This feature request is meant to improve the overall call experience by making it more natural and intuitive, similar to standard phone and VoIP applications.
