AVIF images are not recognized and shown as images

Open PureTryOut opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Steps to reproduce

  1. Send to yourself or receive an AVIF image
  2. Notice it doesn't shown inline
  3. Try to open it with an external app, no image viewer is presented

Outcome

What did you expect?

I expected AVIF images to show inline as any other image. Besides that I expected to have the option to open it with an external image viewer like the standard gallery app.

What happened instead?

The image was shown as a regular file attachment. Opening it directly from within Element presented several apps to open it with, none of which were image viewers. However if the file is downloaded, and then opened via the Android file manager it opens it directly in the default gallery app.
