Updated subsquid mentions
I am Subsquid's Developer Advocate and represent them. I have updated our file, to contain most up-to-date information, and took the liberty of adding information about Subsquid to Polkadot and Kusama files as well.
Why not simply add "Subsquid" in the Polkadot.toml file also, instead of adding each individual repo? (honestly I only discovered this repo last night, so could be wrong)
@spazcoin If you check the changed files, most of my changes are edits, and "subsquid" had already been added to polkadot.toml. I would agree with the principle I am inferring from your comment (to keep it succint), but:
-
the
polkadot.tomlfile has already been used this way, many (most) of the projects in the ecosystem have added their repositories to the file. I am not simply advocating for "well, if the others did it..." principle, but mostly saying that if these additions have been approved by the repository maintainers in the past, they should be accepted now -
as for the single
subsquid.tomlfile, I would not claim we are an ecosystem, just yet, but same as point number 1, the file is already present, I just amended the repositories listed in it, removing old and unused or outdated ones, in favour of the ones we actually prefer using.
I hope this answer the question
@RaekwonIII yup I understand. Agreed saying we're "ecosystems" sounds a little grandiose, but I totally agree with having a separate .toml file per project seems appropriate to help isolate them. thanks for the answer.
Thanks @RaekwonIII and @spazcoin. In general, a good rule of thumb is if a project has its own discord / twitter, it is likely its own ecosystem.
I think Subsquid as sub eco of Polkadot here makes the most sense and to have the repos directly in the Polkadot.toml, but rather in the subsquid.toml. I will make the changes and get this merged.
Merged this.
Hey @jubos , thanks for chiming in and for merging the PR, but your statement and explanation is in contrast with what you suggested (making changes to have links in Polkadot's toml and not on Subsquid's) Subsquid does have its own Discord and does have its own Twitter. By the rule of thumb you brought up it should have its own page and repo links should stay in it's toml file.
Did I misunderstand something?
Yep, I made the small the change to not have the subsquid repos in the polkadot.toml and just have them in the subsquid.toml.
