Devfiler download link doesn't work
Tried following the download link for devfiler from the README, and the download site accepted the token, but pressing "Download" takes me to a 404 page.
We had to take down the downloads for a moment and we are working hard on bringing them back.

Do you think this is likely to be hours, days or weeks? Thanks
@florianl any updates on when it would be restored. Also is this a closed source tool?
This is a major problem for anyone looking to evaluate the profiler locally (like me 😬). Could @florianl or someone else just share the previously published devfiler archive directly in this issue for the time being?
From a long-term perspective I'm also interested in devfiler licensing.
Are there any alternative solutions for local evaluation?
Hey all, Devfiler was neither part of the Elastic Universal Profiling product donation to OpenTelemetry nor a production-ready supported application, but instead a closed-source utility application aimed at helping OpenTelemetry Profiling developers with debugging and making changes to the protocol.
At Elastic, we're evaluating the option to open-source Devfiler and this necessitates that we undergo a formal review process and clear a number of requirements. To satisfy one of these requirements we took down the binaries. I'm hoping that we'll be able to release the source under the Apache2 license soon but I do not yet have a firm timeline.
@christos68k do you think it would be possible to put the binaries back up again solely for evaluation purposes, maybe under a restrictive no-redistribution license with all rights reserved? Open-sourcing would be amazing of course but I understand the process may take a long time.
Hi @viluon, unfortunately we can't provide binaries (it's one legal requirement that we can't clear). I'm doing everything I can to expedite the process of open-sourcing devfiler, we're at the final review stage by our legal team. Once that finishes, we'll make the source available and users will be able to compile their own binaries with cargo build.
Devfiler is now a public open-source project under Elastic. One change we had to make for licensing reasons is that we (Elastic) can not redistribute Devfiler binaries. Users will need to follow the instructions in its repository and build their own binaries.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
I'm (very pleasantly) surprised to see my wishes fulfilled so quickly! Thank you @christos68k.
