Add an audio player

Is it a big job to make OpenWebScrobbler feed scrobbles to an audio player? This would mainly be popular with music streaming service users - so i suppose it would depend if the Spotify, etc APIs support this type of application.

Hi @mikerjensen, are you talking about Spotify only or which other players would you like to use? What would be the use case for this?

Thanks @elamperti, I would like to be able to easily listen to
other people's scrobbles, either because i know them, or because i
find their taste in music interesting and a potential way of
discovering new artists. I see that Last.fm has an option to play
scrobbles through Spotify, but only if you have a Spotify premium
account. It would be good if this worked without premium, or on
the other major streaming services, but not sure if any of their
  API's would support this.

Ah, that would be neat. I'm afraid the same would happen in Open Scrobbler or any other platform: it's part of Spotify's business model. I'll leave this ticket open as an audio player request, and if I get to it I'll investigate if there's any way to add something for non-premium users. Cheers!

Possible milestones:

  • [ ] Add audio player
  • [ ] Investigate player behavior for non-premium users
  • [ ] Add support to follow-along other users

Hi, @mikerjensen I would like to contribute to this issue. Is there someone who is working on it?

I think that the default for the Spotify iframe player is, if you are not logged in or you are not a premium user, play a 30-seconds excerpt from the song. At least that's what it does on Slack, you paste a music/album/playlist url and it injects this iframe.
