A temporary work around is to either use a different style besides `pear` via `C-c .` or manually enable the `pear` style if you want to use it.

[I started work on this](https://github.com/ejmr/php-mode/compare/issue-75) but I'm going to have to email some more knowledgable Elisp programmers to find the best way to resolve it.
