Window doesn't render properly on macOS (not sure if feature or bug)

I've been using the DevDocs app on my personal computer for a long time, but I received a new company computer not long ago and had to install it again. Something I noticed right away was that the interface looks different from my old installation (even though it's up to date).

This is what I was expecting:

Is this a new feature? (i.e. has the UI been redesigned?) If so, how come my old installation hasn't changed... And is it possible to keep the old design? I much prefer having the sidebar there for overview.

I managed to fix it just minutes after posting this. I had to go to "Preferences" and click "Reset all preferences and data" to get back the original layout.

Still have no idea why this happened, but maybe someone else will run into this same issue so this should probably be investigated further...
