Canvas is extremely slow when MCL Multi Column is enabled

As the title says, when activating the MCL Multi Column snippet, the canvas becomes extremely slow. The scrolling is clumsy and completely unusable.

Having a lot of images in a canvas makes the performance even worse. However, zooming in until the text appears improves the performance a little.

i guess this is somewhat related to #67 . if u can provide a sample screen capture it would be great. because if you are not editing the text and it is still sluggish, i'm at lost at what might cause it.
