Sure! I think FAST is already in ROS. You might want to test out FAST-ER on some of your problems first to see if improves things. It should be more repeatable than FAST, but it's not nearly so heavily tested in practice. It's optimized for repeatability which is necessary but not sufficient for a good corner detector. If you do test it, I'd very much like to hear about the results.
