Can't create annotation with keyboard shortcuts

Open lindheli opened this issue 9 months ago • 2 comments

According to the keyboard shortcut lists, create annotation is Alt + Ctrl + Shift + KeyA, but this shortcut combination opens two Developer Tools windows instead of opening the annotation dialog box.

Quick create annotation keyboard shortcut, Alt + Ctrl + Shift + KeyQ results in nothing.

We are aware that shortcut combination across the three operating system with potentially a screen reader working is difficult. Be careful with the new keyboard shortcut that are not "migrated" from an existing thorium instance in your computer, the previous shortcut configured for the annotation remains active. To look what keyboard shortcut are present on your thorium version, please open the preference modal in the library window.

We will continue to works on the better support of the keyboard shortcut from mac/win in the future.

Thanks you for your issue

The QWERTY / AZERTY (etc.) keyboard layout confusion was fixed for v3.2.0 which will be released next week. In a future revision we will also review the shortcuts presets and make them more OS-centric (e.g. Windows CRTL+F vs. Mac CMD+F) but also to avoid designing with QWERTY physical locations in mind, or at least to avoid patterns that go against established conventions (Q and A which are located in the same upper left corner for example have well-understood meanings / expectations in several languages)
