Enough for the reviewers at the Journal of Geoscientific Model Development.

Results that we will aim to replicated:

Johnson & Marshall (2002)

This requires:

    • [ ] A way to simulate mass leaving the upper layer of a 1.5 layer simulation. (The current implementation of sponges should be able to do this satisfactorily.)

Février et al. (2007)

This requires no new features.

Davis et al. (2014)

This requires:

    • [ ] Arbitrary time series of wind magnitude. (Implemented in #21)

Manucharyan & Spall (2016)

This requires:

    • [ ] n-layer physics. While not blocked, I'd like to wait for #1 to be implemented and #47 to be explored before devoting much effort to this. The grid required is 300 x 300.

@edoddridge Please edit the description with the list you actually intend to do :) We can also use this ticket (or maybe individual tickets per paper) to keep track of dependencies between this activity and the more code-oriented stuff.

I've edited your comment to include links to the papers. I think the model contains all the features I'll require to do these experiments, but if not I'll put them in as new tickets.

Following #196 it is now possible to run simulations similar to those presented by Yang et al. (2016) - namely, simulations of an idealised Beaufort Gyre in which the interface outcrops
