4.17 Releng

Tracks the release engineering activities for the 4.17 release.

We have our first 4.17 nightly build available.

https://download.eclipse.org/birt/updates/nightly/latest

I recommend the BIRT developers pull master (sync your fork first if master comes from a fork) and use Help -> Perform Setup Tasks to perform the Modular Targlet task to have the latest target platform set up. Then happy developing for 4.17!

SimRel RC2/final contributions are next week, so I hope to wind down the BIRT release cycle around September 11th.

Guys, just to 100% sure, you are both 99.9% convinced the current milestone is stable and well-tested for any manual tests that the ci tests might not cover?

First note from my side to milestone release "S202409130914"

  • BIRT designer: tested and running

    • designer: ok
    • preview/html: ok
    • pdf: ok
    • excel: ok
    • word: ok

  • BIRT OSGi: tested and running

    • runnable with Tomcat 9.0.93: ok
    • creation of the root page: ok
    • execution of the 2 standard reports: ok
    • reserach of Tomcat logs: ok, no findings, no ERROR logging found
