sticky jam at short edge
According to traffic theory and simulation practice (with "long" edges), a jam grows on the upstream end and shrinks on the downstream end. In meso, edges that admit only a single vehicle break this behavior and a jam never moves upstream.
This is because the short edge breaks the jam-jam headway that is needed for slowing the inflow into the jammed edge.
surprisingly, the jam is sticky even with an edge length of 22m and only disappears when the edge admits 3 vehicles (22.5m)!
