Icons are visible in the chevron even if the preference "Hide icons" is set to `true`
Let's make sure issue is not already fixed in latest builds first.
- [x] I verified I can reproduce this issue against latest Integration Build of Eclipse SDK
Steps to reproduce
From a fresh installation and clean workspace:
- Activate the preference Hide icons under
General > Appearance - Open the chevron to show some missing views
[!NOTE] This functionality was introduced in https://github.com/eclipse-platform/eclipse.platform.ui/pull/1071
I expected: To see no icons
But got: Icons
Screenshots
Tested under this environment:
- OS & version: Windows 11
- Eclipse IDE/Platform version (as shown in Help > About): 2025-12 (4.38) / I20251027-1800

- [x] I understand reporting an issue to this OSS project does not mandate anyone to fix it. Other contributors may consider the issue, or not, at their own convenience. The most efficient way to get it fixed is that I fix it myself and contribute it back as a good quality patch to the project.

I agree that this is confusing.
I assume this is simply two different functions here, so first question would be: Does it harm? The hide Icon feature was meant to have more space to show the tabs, what is not a problem at all here with the chevron menu.
It doesn't fit the leaner visual style of the rest of the IDE, which is why I considered it a bug and reported it.
Do you plan to provide a fix for this, @BeckerWdf / @praveen-skp ?
I'm not in a hurry, I just want to know if it will be addressed :-)

Maybe it can be addressed automatically:
