Persistent IDE Crashes with 'Content Assistant' Feature

Open Artur-Neves opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

I am a Java web developer and I use the Ubuntu operating system. One day, I noticed that when using the "content assistant" feature, the IDE started to become sluggish, and suddenly it closed. I have been using the tool for over a year, and this has never happened before. I thought it might have been an isolated bug, but when I tried to use auto-complete again in the IDE, it froze and then closed. I deleted the .metadata page from the workspace, but the error persisted. I tried everything, changing workspaces, switching files, restoring Eclipse settings, but nothing worked. Then I tried it on another machine, and I was surprised to find that the Eclipse on my other machine had the same problem. So I uninstalled the IDE and installed the latest version, but the error persists. I don't know what happened, but I've been dealing with this problem for 3 days now, unable to continue with my project. Please help me.

The same thing, I have Eclipse version 2024-03 on another machine with the same operating system as this machine (Ubuntu 22.04), and yet it still has the same error. I can record testing on the other machine if you want.

It's one of webkit issues for sure. Try to run Eclipse with WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 set.
