As mentioned in https://github.com/eclipse/che/issues/21359, the 'switch to your running workspace' option can be used to save/commit changes in the running workspace.

Describe the solution you'd like

It would be a great enhancement if we are able to check whether there are any unstaged changes in the running workspace and notify the user if that is the case.
