This sound like the death of XUL add-ons soon... this mean a complete redesign of Echofon...

Chrome doesn't have anything even remotely close to Echofon.

The up side of WebExtensions is that they are compatible between Opera, Firefox and Chrome. But it seems abvious that this projet will require a significant rewrite.
