questions re: export profile as a code

Can you give me some insight to 'export profile as a code'? What are the basic encode/decode methods? ie: Can you link me a related line in your code? I have looked, but my unfamiliarity with the source language made knowing what terms to search for quite difficult. Are these profiles compatible between different modmanagers? (specifically interested in r2modman and thunderstore.io version )

I enjoy writing simple tools in bash for self amusement/edification, and i'd like my gumby little mOdMaNaGeR to be able to import/export profile codes. Can you help?
