ARK (Epic) DLCs not installed or unavailable
Can't play Epic verion of Ark Survival Evolved on BattlEye servers I can play on "host solo" (AKA offline) I can play on any server without battleye But I can't join any BattlEye-protected servers.
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- open the game
- join on any server with Battleye icon
- the game seens to close and reopen, returning to the title screen, no error shown
Expected behavior The game returns to the title screen but without the "JOIN ARK" option. To see the servers again, you have to close and reopen the game. You can still play in "Host Local" even when "JOIN ARK" is missing. To restore "JOIN ARK", you must fully close and reopen the game.

menu before try to join any Battleye server:
After trying to join any BattlEye server and failing (join option appears blurry):
Non-BattlEye server (random server) works fine:
Handheld device:
- Device: Steam Deck
- OS: Bazzite
- Version 42 kernel 6.14.4-103
Additional context All dependencies are installed. My Steam version of the game works fine on the same BattlEye servers that fail with the Epic version (on the same Steam Deck).
things I've tryied: Toggled BattlEye/EAC options in "Proton Config" inside Junk Store (one, both, neither) Tried different Proton versions: GE 9.25, 9.25, Experimental, and 10 Beta (same versions that work fine on Steam version)
ran from desktop mode here the game closes and reopen
custom copy of "epic-launcher.sh" with PROTON_BATTLEYE_RUNTIME forced
different executables: ArkEGSLauncher.exe, ShooterGame.exe, ShooterGame_BE.exe ( same result in all cases)
second issue (Since it’s related to the same game, not sure if it should be in a separate issue...) There’s no option to download DLC maps. I can only play "The Island" (base game), as the others are not downloaded. Even offline, I can’t access other maps.
Hey! Just checking, where did you install the BattlEye runtime? If it was installed on a microSD instead of the internal SSD, that can sometimes cause issues.
As for the missing DLCs, that’s a bit of a tricky one. Ideally, all Epic DLCs should download automatically, but not all games handle them the same way. It really depends on how the developers packaged the content, and unfortunately, the current plugin solution doesn’t catch every scenario. We’re aware of this limitation, but right now we don’t have the resources to fully address it.
I've also updated the issue title to reflect the DLC side of things, since the rest seems more like a game-specific issue than a bug with Junk Store.
I understand.
In this case, consider any future issues related to Ark Survival Evolved and/or DLCs as expected and game-specific issue.
Currently, Ark Survival Evolved is over 500GB with all its DLCs. Without the option to select which DLC to install, only a small and select group of people would be able to download it with all the DLCs (Or about 220GB installed in BTRFS with zstd:20 with autodefrag, deduplication(1.3GB), and manual deletion of cutscenes and junk(3GB))
I had Battleye installed on the SSD, but I also had games that depended on Battleye on the SSD. Is it possible (or mandatory) to have the game on the storage where it's installed?
Due to issues related to the latest update (ark aquatica) and space limitations, I'm unable to continue testing and I will stick with my Steam version of the game.
Thank you very much for the clarification.
You don't need to have the game installed where you have the anticheat runtimes installed. The only problem comes in when the anticheat runtimes are installed on external drives. Junk Store is expecting them and looking for these runtimes on the SSD. But you can have games installed externally to where the runtimes installed, that's all good amd we do it all the time.
I'll leave it open as the DLC issue isnt' specific to this game, there are other games that Junk Store can't download DLC's for due to how this current feature in coded in the open source version of Junk Store.
