Non-Fr rules

Why does listfr include non-french rules? Generic blocks, adservers addressed in EL and ADG

Hey @ryanbr,

As said here the Liste_FR is phase of cleaning up unnecessary and redundant generic filters.

For revolving adservers, I don't know of a rule that states that they should be only added to EasyList (Especially since they are used on French sites to force ads/popup).

In general, I open and i will respond to any request for deletion after study if I judge that the filter is not useful for French websites.

Thank you.

Its not a "rule", but given both ABP, uBO, Brave include Easylist by default (and others), and regionals are added as complementary (so in support of....). The whole point of regional lists they target the region with site specific rules and maybe a mix of some common/non-baited generic regional rules.

  • Just avoids duplicate blocks from being in more than one list given the large user base of EL
  • Baited generic blocks removed in upstream EL but still used in Listfr.

Is there a case where listfr is a standalone list without EL? Is there a list for just French sites?

Not trying to cause any drama here, just trying to understand why listfr covers more than just "fr". When we have other defaulted lists (EL/ADG) used by people already.

Sure, ListFr is not and never attended to be used without EasyList. I always make sure not to include duplicate redundant rules but If so, this means that the filter(s) were present on the French list before they were added to EasyList. Of course, from time to time, I review and delete any filter from the French list that was added to the mother list (EL).

Baited generic blocks removed in upstream EL but still used in Listfr.

If you check your email (Apr 10, 2023) you will find that i have requested you twice some info about generic filter to avoid redundancy and unnecessary submission but i did not get any answer.

I am aware of the problem of baited generic filters and i am already cleaning the list as i have referenced in my previous post but I am not aware of any filters that have been removed from easylist and are present on ListFr. If you have any suggestions for filter removal, send it in private via email and i will check.

Thank you very much in advance for the help & advice.

Looks /inc/ezcl. is redundant by EL's /ezcl.webp?$script e.g. www.climateandweather.net
