Save/restore tabs on switching between git branches

Is this request to save/restore tabs automatically? I ask because on my testing, switching between branches (in GIT) and restoring tabs, doesn't work. The saved tabs entry shows but selecting it, does nothing. When I go back to my original branch (though I didn't commit anything) the tabs restore again. It makes me wonder where the files are stored.
