StorCLI

Open tumd opened this issue 11 years ago • 12 comments

Hi, Thank you for your work on this repo!

LSI have released a new (usable!) management tool that will most likely replace megacli in the future; StorCLI. The parameter-syntax reminds you very much of the syntax from tw_cli. It would be nice if you included this tool into the repo.

I hope it isn't a problem that there doesn't seem to a license file in the storcli packages - at least the two I checked. I mean, there was a license but it seemed to be for a third-party library, not the storcli itself.

I'd really love to use your repository; by adding storcli you would provide both the packages I need :)

Is there any update on this?

I was about to take this bug but it seems now that Avagotech (the the LSI mother company) packages storcli. This is the latest release at the time of writing : http://docs.avagotech.com/docs/1.19.04_StorCLI.zip

On one hand, the .deb seems dirty (setup things in /opt, so storcli is not in $PATH), OTOH there is no maintenance required on our hand to distribute it. @eLvErDe would you be OK to include that deb as-is or shall we put some efforts in writing a clean package ?

Do not put that package into a apt source or install on any system without modification.

If you install via dpkg -i you will have dpkg/apt complaining to stdout on every interaction If you put it into a repo (e.g. Via reprepro) you will break its index due to missing fields and apt won't work on that system anymore at all.

If necessary I can detail the modification steps for the package but I'm not willing to maintain a repo/build process that makes said changes for every release, nor do I want to do automated or manual checking for new releases. - unless Avago provides a good, stable way. (E.g. RSS, Mail)

I've already packaged StorCLI for my own use. I can publish it here if needed.

This here is my attempt at it. Notice that I purposely didn't change the /opt directory. https://data.icg.tugraz.at/packages/pool/main/s/storcli/ since I treat the tw-cli package the same https://data.icg.tugraz.at/packages/pool/main/t/tw-cli/

@eLvErDe: I've published the package source here: https://github.com/Inikup/storcli-debian Note that the StorCLI version packaged is 1.16.06, which is ~1 year old.
