Latest megacli 8.07.14 emits message "Configure Adapter Failed" on Perc5i

On Debian amd64 trying to add a LD on a Perc5i with the latest megacli tool. It would appear that this is an issue with the latest version from LSI too. I tried the smae with version 4.00.16 (v old I know!) from LSI and it works. I guess an "old" version of the package would be helpful here.

# megacli -CfgSpanAdd -r10 -Array0[10:2,10:3] Array1[10:6,10:7] WB RA Direct CachedBadBBU -a0

Adapter 0: Configure Adapter Failed

Exit Code: 0x03

# megacli -CfgLdAdd -r1 [10:2,10:3] WB RA Cached CachedBadBBU -a0

Hello,

That definetly makes sense but it requires some additional work:

• create megacli-old package
• make sure megaclisas-status can work on such old megacli tool
• megaclisas-status should depend on megacli | megacli-old

Do you have a trusted download link for this old version ?

With some trial and error, the latest version I could get to work was 8.01.06. Any chance you have that version in your commit history?

As for a trusted link, no; unfortunately I couldn't find anything in the LSI archives at the time, and the best I could find is now a dead link:

Can you give this one a try ? It release "5.4" according to LSI website.

And try version 5.3, 5.2.... And let me know the newest that fits your needs, ok ?

Sorry I don't currently have access to a machine I can reconfigure to test this on at the moment.

My memory is fuzzy, but I wrote the post below at the time, and I remember testing a whole bunch of versions very close but greater than that 8.01.06 version number and they all failed.

The 4.00.16 version I refer to in that post was the latest trustworthy link I could get that worked, and since it seems LSI became avagotech, I think the link is now:
