Add ability to customize the field for Epic Name

Open OverloadUT opened this issue 10 years ago • 3 comments

In my JIRA installation, the Epic Name is customfield_10097, so this extension doesn't show them properly for me. I would LOVE to have this feature work!

I think it'd be best if you had an options UI to configure what custom field should be used for epic names.

I'd change the source myself as I know you have it in a config variable but I have no idea how to go about mucking with Chrome extensions. Not sure if you even can do that for extensions installed from the store...

Great idea @OverloadUT. I've wanted to do this, but I wasn't sure if this was something people would figure out. How did you figure out your Epic Name is customfield_10097? Ideally, I'd like it figure it out automatically, but I'm not sure if this is possible.

I just published a new version that will attempt to auto-discover the right customfield to use. I also fixed some other bugs that might have prevented it from working.

The new version is 2.0.1, Google should approve and start distributing it by Monday morning. Please let me know if it works any better for you.

Excellent! I will be sure to try it out as soon as the new version propagates out.

To answer your question: the way I identified the proper field for my installation was simply by inspecting the DOM for the "Epic Link" field in an issue. Here's an example from mine:

<div id="customfield_10096-val" class="value type-gh-epic-link editable-field inactive" data-fieldtype="gh-epic-link" data-fieldtypecompletekey="com.pyxis.greenhopper.jira:gh-epic-link" title="Click to edit">

So from there I can tell that it's customfield_10096 due to the id of the field.
