Wallpaper not changing on Gnome 42.1

After updating to Gnome 42.1 pywal will not update the background image. It runs as normal, and changes terminal colours, but no changes to the background occur.

Pywal doesn't seem to be working after GNOME 42 was released. GNOME 42 provides light/dark themes. If the light theme is set, pywal works as expected. If the dark theme is set, the colors on the terminals will match the wallpaper you chose but it won't change the background. You can test what I just said to confirm this is the case (I actually came here to find a solution for it cause it's also bothering me)
