Java error
when trying to run 64 bit Timecult on Win 8, I get an error "Failed to find Java VM"
New to here. Sorry if this is the wrong place. I have 64 bit Windows 7..and I get the same error message ("Failed to find Java VM"). Love to try this app...but stalled.
I think the first thing is to check whether Java can be found if run from command line. Start cmd and type "java -version". If it gives "java version ..." then as a workaround you can launch the application by switching to TimeCult home dir (C:\Program Files (x86)/TimeCult by default) and executing the following command line: cmd> java -jar timecult.jar This should work fine I checked the installation on a clean system by installing first JRE from here: http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/7u21-b11/jre-7u21-windows-i586.exe and then running TimeCult installer. Everything works just fine. Unfortunately I can't comment anything about Win8, I've never used it and not going to. So if you are able to find out what possibly when wrong there, it could help other users perhaps.
I was getting the same issue on Win8, I've found it was because I only had a 32 bit JVM installed. Once I installed the 64 bit one manually it works OK.
Running the timecult.jar manually pointed to the error saying it couldn't locate 64 libraries.
