[comments] add support for inline comments

To add an inline comment: 1. Highlight the text you want to comment on. 2. Click the Add comment icon (a speech bubble with a plus sign) that appears on the right, or use Ctrl+Alt+M (Windows) / Cmd+Option+M (Mac). 3. Type your comment and click Comment.

hey @jfischl, thanks for trying out Composer. Are you saying that the comment button isn't working? Because what you described is how it should already work

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like in Google Docs. Image The affordance is inline with the text rather than (strictly) in the menubar. This makes it a lot easier to discover the functionality.

ah, I see! yes, we've discussed adding a popover menu for when text is highlighted before but haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks for submitting this feedback, it's helpful to know what people find most useful
