Investigate application design patterns

Open jsardid opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Effort

Provide patterns for composition within the page, application behavior and user flows that are reused across the assure application ecosystem or we identify as needed.

  • Research the most common patterns used in our application ecosystem
  • Research and document best practices
  • Define and create clear examples and explanations about the different use cases
  • Write pattern documentation pages

This task is also crucial to test and evaluate how the system components behave between them and spot improvement areas.

Examples can be found in the AWS design system. They just have documentation for these patterns and don't provide any type of implementation (developers need to put these low-level components together). I don't see a technical reason why we couldn't provide a wrapper component implementing this logic: https://cloudscape.design/patterns/patterns/overview/

Impact

Product teams: A pattern reference guide can help product designers to align better with the system, reuse patterns across all our products, and achieve the coherence we are seeking for. Instead of researching and defining how users achieve a goal when facing a new screen or application design.

This task also involves creating a new section/page in Halstack documentation site.
