Keeping track of dwyl books

Open rub1e opened this issue 7 years ago • 9 comments

A place to keep track of dwyl books 📖

Please note down here when people have borrowed books, and mark when they've returned them.

Max G has borrowed the Elixir & Phoenix books - 3/7/18

We should get https://github.com/dwyl/library up and running properly!

@rub1e Did these come back? Can we close this issue and move it to the library repo? 😊

Chased

In "normal" circumstances I would never allow a book to go "AWOL". But given that the Elixir & Phoenix books have changed since our paper copies were purchased, (the Phoenix one especially), it's not a high priority to get them returned. priority-5 is appropriate or even priority-6 ... I'd be far more interested in getting "Sprint" back... Thanks! ✨

@nelsonic Who has Sprint? We'll set @rub1e on them! 😆

Time/effort/cash-wise it's more effective to buy a new copy (£10) than to attempt to "chase" the person who we lent the book to ... at this point probably doesn't "remember" that it's our copy ... 😞 I don't recall "stamping" the book with the @dwyl stamp so my guess is that the book has been "assimilated" into the person's book shelf ... https://amzn.to/2GcHUIM image

What we need is a crystal clear process for stamping and (RFID) tagging all our new books to ~~avoid~~ eliminate the "ownership confusion" in future.

Essentially what you're saying is that if I track down whoever stole Sprint, I get to keep it?

Or if you buy a new one it'll be delivered here anyway so I can borrow it before it goes to Braga - win/win!

Why don't I do a little spike on stamping/RFID and put it into a new issue in Library when I close this one?

@rub1e your skills/knowledge/experience/abilities/awesomeness is better spent on more valuable tasks. We will define an "intern" task for stamping+tagging the books in the library. 😉
