Organisations/Companies we Admire

Open nelsonic opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

we need a comprehensive list of all the organisations & companies we admire and why. until we have a better way of collecting the list, please leave comments in this thread. thanks!

  • Patagonia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patagonia_(clothing) and https://www.youtube.com/user/patagoniavideo specifically https://youtu.be/A4DH5cK37Y8 they are "fighting the good fight"
  • IDEO: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDEO is the widely regarded as the most creative/innovative company in the world. When other companies run out of ideas or have a tough challenge to solve, they call in IDEO. We've read all their books, follow them on instagram and would take an un-paid internship there in a heartbeat just to get inside the action! 😍
  • Pixar. for their incredible creativity and story telling. not their selling out to Disneylies.
  • Google. for their innovation and "good parts" not the tracking and selling data to advertisers!
  • Ghost: using technology to make publishing better. also hyper transparency. https://ghost.org/about/
  • Gore Associates: see: https://www.gore.com/about described in detail in https://www.amazon.co.uk/What-Matters-Now-Competition-Unstoppable/dp/1118120825

@iteles I cannot find our list of companies we admire (and/or want to work with) and learn from ... please feel free to close this issue and link to the "original" if you know where it is!

I've just listen to this podcast which talks about Yvon Chouinard and how he started Patagonia, good to listen.

@SimonLab that is easily the best episode of How I Built This podcast! I freakin' ❤️ Patagonia! I think we should add a link to the start-here which recommends people to listen to it ... what do you think?

KeepCup - solving a great problem of 'throw-away' culture with coffee/tea cups

"KeepCups mission is to encourage the use of reusable cups. We do this by delivering sustainably made products that are fit for purpose in the context of a positive global campaign that strives to make a difference to how we think about convenience culture."

They also have a dedicated part of their website for Reuse HQ ❤️

theres also this but haven't read their data policy - http://reusehq.keepcup.com/organisations-info
