Automatically start a (new) timer when the app is opened

As a person wanting to keep track of my time, I want a timer to start as soon as I open the (web/mobile/watch) app so that I know I'm not wasting time creating the timer/task

This is a question that is open for discussion: should timers start counting before the person has written a description for it or after?

I don't think we should be starting a time as soon as a user opens the app. Imagine they are opening the app to add a new project or view times that they have accumulated for a given project, we shouldn't be forcing a timer upon a user every time they open the app. That should be left to the user.
