Moving the .gitignore to inside the magmi folder

The .gitignore file should be contained within the magmi folder instead of above it. I already have a gitignore in my Magento root so this causes a conflict, or I have to edit my existing gitignore which could be avoided. Similar to the gitignore placed in magmi/state/

Same problem. When I install magmi, there are already, at the root, files with the same name. it's going to crush them. what to do ?
