Official ST3 relase

Open sascha-wolf opened this issue 8 years ago • 6 comments

ST3 officially released some days ago; does this mean the development on this plugin will continue?

I was thinking about it, but I feel a complete rewrite with some new learnings would be better. We learned a lot with building proton and a lot of that could get re-applied to a ST version

@dvcrn do you plan to do this in the foreseeable future? Do you need any help/contributions?

@kibin Starting September I'm planning to invest some after-work time in this.

I have started writing some things down on the issues.

EDIT: But you're more than welcome to help and contribute if you want!

@BamBalaam I’m not so experienced in python and/or st3-programming, so if there is some roadmap or something I will gladly help (and also practice my py-fu)

@BamBalaam I'm happy to help. I've developed a few ST3 plugins in the past but moved away because I'm addicted to the mnemonic keybindings of Spacemacs.

Sublime is my close second editor though, so I'm certainly ready to invest some time here. 👍

@BamBalaam and me chatted a bit about some ideas and how to move the project forward but any help is greatly appreciated :) After all, this was meant to follow the spacemacs approach of being a community maintained configuration system

Currently the highest priority (in my eyes) is to clean up some of the unglam code to prepare for more features, then tackle how layers are setup. Right now it's a bunch of configuration variables that are getting pulled together.

Once that's done I think it'll be to get layers up to speed. A lot of the current layers are still using old packages that might already be dead or have better alternatives. https://github.com/lunixbochs/actualvim for example looks super cool and a lot better than Vintageous / Six
