as long as I open the pdf, notero begins to sync
As long as I open the item to read the pdf, Notero gives a not that "syncing to Notion", however I didn't change anything. Is that because Zotero 7 begin to record the timeline of reading? Can we disable Notero to monitor the reading information since reading pdf should not change anything?
Hi @fredericky123, that's interesting. I haven't seen that behavior before.
Could you share the versions of Zotero and Notero that you're currently using?
Could you also share a video of the issue occurring? Ideally it'd also be great if you could have the Error Console open (from the menu Tools > Developer > Error Console) so that we can see what Notero is logging. We're looking for messages like the following:

@fredericky123, thanks for sending those screenshots. We can see there are a number of Zotero items being modified and noticed by both Notero and some other plugins you have (like Green Frog). There appears to be something modifying those items, but I'm not sure what it is. I haven't seen Zotero do anything like this on its own while just reading a PDF.
I wonder if one of the other plugins is making some sort of update to those items. Can you try disabling some of your other plugins and see if that helps at all?
Thanks @dvanoni , finally, I found it was https://github.com/MuiseDestiny/zotero-style , an excellent pulg-in doing some changes. To prevent the notice, can Notion add an option do disable the message? The notice only occurs when something wrong rahter than saving successfully
@fredericky123, good find! I see that it tracks reading progress, so I imagine that's what is creating the modifications on the items that causes Notero to sync.
It should be possible to add an option to only show the Notero status message on errors instead of every time it syncs. However, do keep in mind that Notero will continue to sync for all of these modifications. I don't believe this should cause any issue with Notion API rate limits since Notero will sync at most every 2 seconds.
Great, Both Style and Notero are very useful for me. The Option to only show the Notero status message on errors is enough I think. Until now, I din't reach the limit of Notion API rate limits, just the notification is too frequent.
