No status for failed arming

Open akagarwal opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Hi. I tried to arm the system with a contact sensor open and zone bypass switch off. I wanted to see the failure and hoped it would come back with a message like unable to arm due to a zone open. But instead, it just sat there spinning for more than 5 minutes trying to arm. I finally had ti turn it off. Any thoughts there? Would also be great to show exist delay countdown as it is trying to arm.

Thanks.

Turn on zone bypass and it will work. If you look at the log it will say unable to arm due to not being ready.

HomeKit does not support exit delay bypass, but will spin until the next stage change.

Thank you. Yes, turning the bypass tested and works perfectly. My question was what happens if I am away trying to arm my system, but a contact sensor was left open. It will spin and I will not know that the system is unable to arm. I am guessing this is perhaps a HomeKit limitation and I would need to pay attention to sensors being open and proactively turn on the bypass switch in order to arm since there is no arming failure message come back in HomeKit.

Regards!

If you try to arm without the bypass switch on and a zone is open, it will fail and the state of the alarm will quickly go back to off. The state of the alarm is very reliable in my experience.

Hi Dustin,

I opened a separate ticket reporting that HomeKit switched don’t come through with the names of panic buttons. I actually called my monitoring service to put it on disregard and trigger each of the switches to figure out which is which. In that process, I discovered that fire and medical get turned off when the switch is turned OFF, but police remains ON and the siren continues to blare. I had to enter my code on my physical keypad to silence it. Am I using it incorrectly?

Thanks.
