Inbox: Messages sometimes appear twice

I'm not sure how to reproduce this issue. It seems like if a message from person A exists in person B's inbox, and person A sends person B another message, person A can sometimes appear twice in the inbox. I'm not sure what other conditions need to be satisfied to reproduce this error. Some experimentation is needed.
