Need choice for HTML and Lite Configuration

Open doggydog opened this issue 12 years ago • 3 comments

Some use DDG only in HTML and Lite because of the following: Lite is sometimes preferred. The JavaScript is either preferred or does not conform to free software licensing https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/javascript-trap

The HTML and lite should be a configuration for the address bar(keyword.URL), the Search Bar and the popup button.

Good point.

Do you have any idea how to do it?

I'm not sure how to put three options somewhere in the extension.

I am not a developer, but am making a suggestion. If DDG JavaScript version would conform to the licensing conventions set forth in the aforementioned article then most of the free software community would not mind running the JavaScript version. The Firefox extension, "GNU LibreJS" will aid in detecting of nonfree/nontrivial JavaScript.

I'm looking for this as well. Either add a checkbox to the settings of the add-on to make it use the non-JavaScript version of DDG by default or free the JavaScript of DDG.
