[Bug] app tracking protection no longer auto starts

Describe the bug

starting from two play store stable versions ago, starting right from after the app got updated, the app tracking protection does not auto start on phone boot up.

going to vpn settings and enabling ddg as an always on vpn appears to be a workaround for now. however i assume this is not the intent of ddg and it is supposed to work without always on vpn being turned on.

How to Reproduce

restart phone & unlock

Expected behavior

app tracking protection automatically starts

Environment

- DDG App Version: 5.152.0 (51 520000) - the issue started from the version before the version before this one (counting play store updates) but i am no longer able to go back to check that version number.
- Device: pixel 7
- OS: TQ1A.230205.002
