Happens in latest Manjaro, too. I ran into it on Slack. The `--gtk-version` flag is [obviously] undocumented but works fine.

@rmathot That's the principal reason that I can't use Wayland at the moment.

If you could suggest a straightforward approach then I could do it. If it requires research or rewiring then that'd be best left to the maintainers.
