had a look at latest mongo-c-driver 1.1.7. Completely different API and a LOT of work to port it to R =(

+1 on this issue, but I understand the amount of work for porting

mongo-c-driver 1.1.x gives us SCAM-SHA-1 authentication mongo-c-driver 1.3 gives us Mongodb 3.2 compatibility
