Bug: Horadric Cube causes 'failed to load game'

When trying to load a character with just the horadric cube, the game fails to load. For this, I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong. I've tried just loading a character with no changes and just the cube. Does not work. I have also tried: Reproduction steps:

1. Load Horadric Cube
2. Set character to 99
3. Set all waypoints
4. Complete all quests
5. Save to D2R
6. Start game
7. Select the saved character

Actual result: game will try to start but error message will appear: 'failed to join game' Expected result: game starts with cube in inventory

Workaround: it is possible to pick up the cube in a Normal game
