So it turns out that this was caused by me having `indent-bars-treesit-support` set to `t`. This setting was lingering around in my config but I think I never really used...
Sorry for my lack of feedback. Since everything is working now (not using `indent-bars-ts-mode`), I didn't take the time to investigate.
I am supporting this PR. On my setup, I have to set `gptel-stream` to `nil` even though I have disabled streaming in the backend, otherwise rewriting does not work.
