Cycling buffers requires 'bb' instead of 'b'

The README says

As mentioned above, if you opened several documents at once, you can cycle through these documents by pressing b

but for me, it requires pressing 'b' twice to go to the next buffer. Going backwards with shift + b works in a single key press. Is the documentation outdated, is this a bug or am I misunderstanding the documentation?
